First of all, I want to clarify what a BB cream actually is and how it should be used.
The BB cream, “Blemish Balm” is a slightly tinted moisturizer, which aim to enclose the properties of different creams, first and foremost foundation, in one.

BB cream has become more famous than in any other country in South Korea, where women felt the need to have a multipurpose product including many properties that allowed to speed up the daily makeup routine.
Essentially, BB cream is a makeup formulated with beneficial properties for skin care. These benefits can range from sunscreen to hydration to brightness control, or to antioxidant and anti-aging properties. There are BB creams for all skin types, including oily and dry skin.
BB creams, in fact, are tinted SPF especially designed to speed up the beauty routine. In addition, BB creams generally offer a more natural finish than foundations, though slightly less coverage.
Think of BB cream as a rigged version of a tinted moisturizer. However, be aware that BB creams are not meant to provide as much coverage as a foundation would!
BB cream is a skin-first product, which means it is meant to hydrate, brighten, mattify or achieve any other skin care goal you may wish for.

Missha BB cream, is a product not much popular in the USA (instead it’s a bestseller in Europe). Anyway, I consider it a really good BB cream, especially given the price.
It is a BB cream capable of very well covering both dark circles and/or imperfections, even with minimal quantities of product. It also has a good illuminating capacity, which lends itself well to give greater freshness to the look.
The texture is creamy and blends well with any type of skin. It has a matte / semi-matte finish. It gives a uniform and natural coverage, accompanied by the moisturizing sensation of a day cream.
The duration is around 6 hours without imperfections. We have not applied foundation or any other product, therefore the coverage is essentially of the BB cream.
The moisturizing capacity is good and mostly guaranteed by the presence of Jojoba oil. This vegetable lipid is composed of a mixture of waxy esters, vitamin E, B complex vitamins, minerals such as zinc, copper and iodine. These substances make jojoba oil a good anti-aging, also capable of soothing, moisturizing and treating dehydrated and inflamed skin.
Remember that the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) scale is not linear: SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays. SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays. SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays.
Its ease of absorption and its great ability to penetrate through the small pores of the epidermis, leaving it smooth and silky, gives jojoba oil an excellent moisturizing action.
The anti-wrinkle properties are quite little, even if they are undoubtedly present. There are several medicinal herbs with antioxidant properties, jojoba oil, ceramides, rosemary extract, algae extract.
Finally, I appreciate the sun protection, which consists of mineral filters (titanium and zinc oxides) excellent for their protective capacity and for their not-harmful impact on the body.

Missha BB cream is a Korean tinted SPF cream, characterized by excellent value for money. Great sun protection, and good hydration and coverage. A BB cream for all needs, designed for skin under 40 years. At the price at which it is offered, it’s a good buy.

All right, all right, this Erborian is not a BB, but a CC cream, a color correction. However the nutrient components in the formula also apply as excellent BB cream.
But let’s go in order.
Erborian’s CC is a multi-tasking cream that moisturizes, nourishes and blends very well with the skin.
It uses small microencapsulated pigments designed to automatically adapt to the natural skin tone and provide uniform and light coverage.
The tones are 2, one for medium-light skins and one for more olive-colored ones.
Key ingredients include centella asiatica, an anti-aging ingredient that increases collagen production and antioxidant activity. Adenosine is another anti-aging agent; which improves the elasticity and softness of the skin. And finally, the good old vitamin B3 is interesting, a vitamin involved in protection from free radicals and capable of strengthening the skin barrier.
The formula is initially white, but while wearing it on the skin it takes on the pinkish beige color very similar to the natural color of the skin.
The texture is really light and super easy to blend using your fingers making it a perfect BB cream for oily skin. (However, for a perfect finish I recommend using a beauty blender). This cream can be layered, even if it is a pity, given the unique lightness and excellent coverage even with a single layer.
Speaking of coverage, we can say that it provides a fair amount of coverage, comparable to that of a light foundation. In addition, I really appreciated the smooth satin finish that tends to dull the shiny areas.

We are talking about a premium range cream, exclusive from all points of view. Excellent composition of ingredients, gentle on the skin and with an impalpable texture (ideal for satin finish, summer months or oily skins). I appreciated the choice of only 2 colors (medium light and medium dark) capable of adapting and blending with any type of skin. A CC cream with the properties of the best BB creams. Too bad for the high price.

BareMinerals BB cream Complexion Rescue is a bb cream foundation based on natural and botanical ingredients.
This cream is formulated with strong moisturizing agents and powders that reflect light to help hydrate and soothe any irritation and giving brightness and visibly more uniform skin.
The formulation has a creamy consistency and a fresh and fruity aroma.
It is more a soothing moisturizer than an anti-aging one, and in fact we do not find ingredients particularly known for its anti-wrinkle properties.
We can just detect some, anti- antioxidant effect ingredients, as Globularia Cordifoglia, Melilotus officinalis and salicornia herbacea extracts. These ingredients are very rich in vitamins, and are able to increase the resistance and vitality of the epidermis, protecting against the formation of free radicals.
Note also the high concentration of vegetable glycerin and sodium hyaluronate which guarantee the very strong hydration and effective cooling sensation that distinguish this cream.
At the same time there are excellent ingredients such as titanium oxide and zinc oxide, capable of giving total UVA-UVB protection, without irritating the skin in the least.
Titanium Dioxide, and Zinc Oxide provide an excellent mineral sunscreen protection (in this case, SPF 30)
It also contains an SPF 30 (mineral based) sunscreen which helps protect against UVA and UVB rays. The product is suitable for sensitive skin that is prone to rosacea.
On the other hand, we did not find the layering over other products (as moisturizers creams) very pleasant, which risks removing the cream if not done with great care.
In conclusion, it is certainly a cream capable of giving a deep moisturizing effect, therefore excellent on dry skin. The ingredients are natural and of botanical origin and are capable of replenish, nourish and condition thirsty skin.
Nevertheless, the effect on the skin is luminous glow, which some of us may like, but it can also be too shiny on oily skins.

BareMinerals BB cream is a natural mineral BB cream that give a skin tone brighter and more even. Good coverage, even if not suitable for too visible imperfections. The strength of this BB cream is the quality of the ingredients. It is a perfect cream for sensitive and dry skin, able to give an excellent moisturizing effect and never irritate the skin.
Unfortunately, the product is a little oily and the application on oily skins could result in a quite shiny effect.

Everglam Cosmetics is a young brand of Asian origin (South Korea) that offers BB cream with SPF 30 at a good value for money.
Let’s start with the ingredients.
The main antioxidant ingredient is Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate.
Portulaca Oleracea is a famous plant in Korean traditional medicine to treat infection and irritated skin. Modern research confirms that it’s the richest green plant source of omega-3 fatty acids (α-linolenic acid), contains NMFs (polysaccharides and amino acids), vitamins (β-carotene), minerals, and antioxidants (yellow betaxanthins and reddish betacyanins). Thanks to its components, it results as great anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agent.
We find also Disteardimonium Hectorite, whose ability is to create a light and smooth skin feel and enhancing the water-resistance of sunscreen formulas.
Another interesting ingredient in the formula is Betaine, an amino acid derivative with good moisturization properties. It is an osmolyte, a molecule that helps to control cell-water balance.
Betaine is also a natural osmoprotectant, meaning it attracts water away from the protein surface and thus protects them from denaturation, increasing their thermodynamic stability
I know that some of us will be worried about the high concentration of Cyclopentasiloxane in the INCI. Cyclopentasiloxane. Is a silicone that has a unique fluidity that makes it easily spreadable.
Skincare products containing cyclopentasiloxane can be used safely with minimal personal risk. Though there is a concern that this ingredient can disrupt hormones in your body, research shows that it doesn’t get absorbed into the skin in high enough doses to cause harm.
Let’s move on to the texture.
This BB cream foundation is blendable and buildable and adapts very well to oily skins. It has a matte finish, which gives light coverage along with the SPF protection.
The coverage is quite good, as it can conceals blemishes, dark spots (not too visible), and smoothes well uneven skintone.
Overall, it is a BB cream capable of adapting to any type of skin, except for very dry skins. Excellent as bb cream for oily skins. For the price at which it is offered, it is a product that I would try at least once.

Everglam BB cream is a well-made BB, that combines moisturizers with real anti-aging antioxidants. Very natural the tint that blends with light skin tones. Moreover, the texture does not weigh down and adapts very well to oily skins with a satiny matte finish.
It may not be suitable for those with very dry skin, I think this is more a BB cream designed for combination and oily skin. In conclusion, it remains a BB cream with an excellent quality / price ratio.

Purliss is a California-based company founded by Jennifer Yen, a former Asian-born actress.
It is a BB cream foundation that adapts to any type of skin, mostly with excellent results.
This tinted moisturizer includes the usual tinted SPF, but it has a good nourishing component, which includes good moisturizing and antioxidant agents.
It is composed of a multivitamin complex and good level moisturizing agents.
We find Chamomilla, Gentiana, Artemisia, Portulaca, and Sugar Maple Extracts. Unfortunately, the concentration is not high, therefore the nutritional antiage intake, although present, will not be too significant.
The moisturizing power is better, and is guaranteed by the wetting power of the capric triglyceride and by Dimethicone (which is a silicone, but guarantees a moisturizing film on the skin).
Also interesting the presence of Beeswax, that carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are essential in fighting chapped skin and bacterial infections that tend to affect us most in the dry, winter months.
Beeswax forms a protective wall by sealing in moisture in our skin without smothering and clogging up the pores.
On the other hand, I did not appreciate the presence of Cetyl PEG / PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, which is known to show a limited evidence of toxicity for the sense organs and a high probability of contamination by toxic molecules such as 1,4-dioxane.
Ultimately, this is a complete BB cream foundation, the strength of which is the visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, uniformity of the complexion, increased brightness, and quite good hydration of the epidermis.
Its use, therefore, actually aims to cover imperfections, small wrinkles, uneven grain, also giving considerable brightness to the face.
In addition to the veil of foundation that makes the complexion uniform and compact, there is also a filter with sun protection with a broad spectrum UVA / UVB SPF 30.
As a sunscreen, in addition to the classic zinc and titanium oxides, we find Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, which has pros and cons. It is an excellent sunscreen, but it is also a substance accused of being an endocrine disrupting agent, which acts by affecting the body’s hormones. (Klammer et al, Toxicology Sep 2007).
This BB Tinted Moisturizer cream is excellent overall, but I would have avoided Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, rather by increasing the concentration of Titanium Oxide.
Without a doubt, it remains one of the best BB creams foundation for value for price. Light, soft and creamy (great as bb cream for oily skins), it is able to guarantee a discreet covering film without turning into a mask (as has happened to me in many other products). Excellent also during hot months, considering that will last easily 7-9 hours.

A BB cream that is having a huge success online, and that I appreciated too. The quality of the ingredients is good, apart from some active ingredients that I would have avoided.
The colour usually matches any complexion perfectly. Easy to apply, you don’t need much, therefore it can last also 8-10 hours. Excellent the matte finish capable of control shine on oliy skins.
Lightweight coverage able to evens skin tone feeling nothing on face. If we are looking for a product with a top-quality finish, but with a reasonable price (it will last months!), this is the bb cream for us.

Revitalizing Supreme is an extremely popular product, especially in Europe.
We are not talking about the Estee Lauder bb cream foundation, but of the glorious CC. In the face of some aspects to be improved, it is a CC cream capable of adapting to a BB cream achieving a truly excellent work.
The CC Cream by Esteè lauder is a cream aimed at a public of advanced age, who is looking for a good coverage with an excellent natural effect, and worthy anti-wrinkle and anti-aging properties.
Let’s start with the coverage. This CC cream manages to make us forget the foundation, thanks to encapsulated pigments which, when in contact with the skin, take on the same tone of the skin. Yes, strange, but these pigments manage to adapt to any skin tone, with a single color. It is also able to turn beige / brown in the case of dark skin.
The coverage in itself is good, but not comparable and a foundation. It is designed to conform to the complexion, giving brightness and even out skin tone with a spectacular natural effect.
The price to pay is the coverage is not exaggerated, as could be that of a foundation. I find it perfect for small spots, acne redness, light imperfections and/or to even perfectly skin tone.
The cream is specially designed as a nourishing and anti-aging CC Cream, and in fact it has a deeply nourishing and moisturizing formula.
First, observed an excellent dose of hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium hyaluronate) capable of hydrating even the driest skin and balancing the oily ones.
Second, the cream contains numerous antioxidant extracts with anti-aging function. From the black bamboo extracts that stimulate some cellular functions to the various extracts of Karitè, Jojoba, Cucumber, Barley, sunflower and various other botanical extracts.
It should also be noted that this is one of the few clinically non-acnegenic products, meaning it is tested to avoid acne-like irritation even on the most sensitive skin.
In short, is Revitalizing Supreme a BB cream foundation that I would recommend?
Honestly yes, even if a CC cream instead a BB cream. Especially for more mature skin and for those looking for a natural result. Too bad for the really high price.

A nourishing anti-aging and moisturizing CC cream, that in my opinion is far better than the Estee Lauder BB cream.
Light and gentle, this high-end cream gives a perfect natural look, without looking like makeup. Furthermore, it has only one shade able to adapt to any skin tone.
Coverage is good, but not excellent. Not suitable to completely cover very visible imperfections (for those, better a touch of foundation).
On the other hand, I really love the natural effect, which remains amazing. Lightweight, bright and uniform, does not make the skin feel dry even after 6-8 hours in a raw. An excellent CC/BB cream for mature skins.

Dr Jart’s BB cream is a product known throughout the USA, and among the best BB cream with SPF ever.
Jart is a Korean skincare company that is taking the beauty world by storm. The company works with a team of many dermatologists to bring the maximum quality on any type of skin.
The beauty Balm SPF 45 is the bb cream with the highest SPF protection in this ranking.
Now, ingredients don’t really drive me crazy. There is an abundant use of silicones and Pegs, inert for the skin, but not suitable for those looking for an organic product.
That said, the combination of these synthetic ingredients makes the texture exquisite. Incredibly light when considering the high level of sun protection.
The moisturizing power is limited to glycerin alone. On drier skin you may need a moisturizer to be used as a base before this BB cream.
As anti-aging ingredients we find Niacinamide and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-12.
Niacinamide is a powerful anti-aging because it has the precious property of increasing the production of ceramides. Ceramides are essential components of the epidermal structure, and perform an anti-inflammatory and firming action on the skin. In addition, niacinamide is a precursor to important coenzymes that feed and protect the skin.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide 12, on the other hand, is a tripeptide consisting of amino acids such as Arginine, Phenylalanine and Lysine, which shows a very high analogy to growth factors naturally present in the human body. It is precisely this mimicry that justifies the biological and antiaging function.
The coverage of this Dr Jart BB cream foundation is excellent. It actually does a great job of evening out my skin tone and covering small pimples. At the same time, the cream is very light and also perfectly adapts to dry skins.
It may happen that some ingredients of a BB cream or foundations precipitate. Especially with colored pigments. This is why sometimes the color tone seems different! To remedy it, it’s important to shaken well the bb cream before using it. It will allow ingredients to mix, giving always an optimal result!
Overall, it is a bb cream that can act as a base for makeup to give brightness and uniformity to the complexion (spot concealer sometimes is still needed for the under-eye area and any new red or very dark spots).
It may appear a little bit glow on oily skins, but it settles down after a few minutes, and if you really don’t like it, a light dusting of powder will take care of it.
It can be layered and has not given us any problems after being put on a face cream, or after we have layered a little face powder on her, making it also a good make-up base.

Silky, lovely consistency, great coverage without being cakey (like a medium foundation). Beauty Balm is an excellent BB cream, ideal for dry and uneven skin tone and for its exceptional sun protection factor. SPF 45! A tinted SPF that deserves the fame it enjoys. Great value for price.

Coola Mineral BB Cream is a bb cream with spf ideal for those of us looking for an organic / vegan BB cream whose ingredients are mostly of natural origin and deriving from certified organic agriculture.
It is a medium coverage BB cream with a creamy and delicate texture. The consistency is different from most bb creams, precisely because it is not silicone based.
Especially if you want to stratify with other products or creams, you need to be very careful, because the cream can be quite thick.
The shade can be combined well with all skin tones. The coverage is significantly better than what I expected from an organic BB cream. It gives skin a great glow and evens it out overall.
Another positive note is the delicacy on the skin: we tried it on extremely sensitive skins that showed no sign of allergy, nor redness.
The reason why active ingredients aren’t recognized as organics is because no sunscreen active ingredients (mineral or non-mineral) can ever be certified organic.
The most interesting ingredients are the Planton Extracts, which are high in essential fatty acids, and are the building blocks of healthy cells. They also provide deep, enduring moisture to the skin, both by being a source of moisture themselves and training skin to hold on to its moisture, instead of excreting it to the surface.
Also interesting is the Rose Stem Cells: these Stem Cells are known for delivers moisture to dry skin, and having outstanding anti-inflammatory effects to reduce skin troubles. Moreover, it appears to be able to help skin cells grow and replicate, preventing signs of aging due to active oxygen, which is considered one of the main causes of aging.
As a sunscreen there is only a high concentration mineral filter (5.6% titanium dioxide) making it an excellent BB cream with SPF 30.

A silicone free organic BB cream, light in weight and blending perfectly with most of skin types. The antioxidant power is good, (although it’s not thought as anti-aging cream). It’s also a good moisturizes, capable of evens skin tone, providing a healthy glow.
It holds up well even in the heat and while sweating. A little shiny after 4-6 hours, (it loses the matt effect), but given the quality of the ingredients, I still consider it one of my favorite BB creams.

We are talking about a BB cream that adapt on all skin types, but actually one of the best bb creams for oily skins. It works as a moisturizer, sunscreen with SPF 30 and a primer that works perfectly under makeup.
It is an all-in-one high-end product that provides an absolutely unique ability to even out skin. Its coverage significantly minimizes the appearance of imperfections. It may not be able to completely much visible marks, but it will have such a natural effect that it will be impossible to see on the skin.
Unlike the traditional BB cream which is sometimes a bit heavy, this one from Shiseido has a fluid consistency and a silky effect. The light formula blends evenly and instantly assimilated with the skin and leaves no traces of makeup on the skin.
It is perfect for those who love the feeling of wearing absolutely nothing. It also keeps the skin fairly hydrated and elastic, so it also lends itself to moderately dry skin types.
Anyway, one of the best bb creams for oily skin, given the lightweight texture.
The moisturizing effect is given by the good amount of glycerin, nevertheless the anti-aging power is not too high.
The only substantial ingredient that acts as antioxidants against wrinkles I have been able to detect is Saxifraga Sarmentosa Extract. Recent studies have indicated it may contain constituents which relay actions desired in skin care, such as anti-oxidant and anti-wrinkle properties. The anti-oxidant actions should be due to the tannin, which inhibits lipid oxidation and captures free radicals.
Excellent the SPF protection which is guaranteed by the good amount of titanium oxide (a mineral and safe UVB protector).
Let’s be clear: this BB cream is anything but “organic”. Contains PEG, silicones, EDTA. However, the mix of ingredients makes it gentle on the skin and capable of blending into the complexion like no other.

A superior tinted BB moisturizer. Gentle on sensitive skins and capable of giving an extremely natural finish. One of the best BB creams with SPF that actually has a good coverage and that does not break apart even after 8-10 hours.
Lightweight but longish lasting. A BB cream with SPF capable of making us forget that we are wearing it. Honestly, one of the few that guarantees good coverage while remaining invisible on the skin. The anti-aging properties are not so high, but the aesthetic effect is comparable to an excellent foundation.

Bella Terra Cosmetics is a Houston company that I met working with American colleagues.
In Europe it is still very little established, but I find it a real shame because this is a real high-quality BB cream.
In my opinion, Bella Terra is a good compromise between synthetic and natural ingredients. Because “mineral” does not mean natural (as I have read on some magazines) and in fact the first ingredients are synthetic silicones.
Cyclopentasiloxane, which is the one present in the highest concentration, is completely inert and I do not consider it personally harmful to the skin. Whether we like it or not, it is a silicone that manages to make the texture of the cream light, soft and “silky” like no other organic ingredient could do.
Nevertheless, the eco-impact of these silicones is not the best, as they are poorly biodegradable substances.
At the INCI level, however, beyond silicones (which in any case are not harmful to the skin) it is a truly excellent product.
We find some plant extracts with antioxidant power. For example, Carthamus Safflower oil, known for containing a high percentage of polyunsaturated fats and antioxidants such as vitamin E and polyphenols. Overall, they are useful to fight skin aging processes and protect the skin from damage caused by sunlight
Also interesting is the use of many amino acids, which reaches levels of an anti-aging cream. We find Arginine, Glycine, Alanine, Serine, Valine, Proline, Threonine, Histidine.
These amino acids provide the vital substances that nourish the skin. Some studies have shown that their topical integration would be able to strengthen the skin, making it softer and more elastic, which is why they are used in an increasing number of cosmetics.
Finally, to complete the anti-aging picture, we find the addition of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 is a very small messenger (lipo-peptide) made up of amino acids such as: Arginine, Phenylalanine and Lysine. It is a mimetic oligopeptide, that is, it has a high analogy to growth factors naturally present in our body.
In contact with the skin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 seems to be able to communicate with an extracellular protein (TGF-β) which has the purpose of regulating the synthesis of collagen. By increasing the amount of collagen, it redensifies the dermis, and rehydrates (due to the osmotic effect of the collagen itself), increasing skin thickness and therefore elasticity.
Okay, the anti-aging power is convincing. But coverage and texture?
The texture is a direct consequence of the use of silicones. Light on the skin and suitable for any season. It does not dry (does not contain alcohol) and last for many hours without retouching (from 8 to 10 hours). Honestly, I think it’s one of the best bb creams for oily skin of today.
The coverage is fine, capable of covering red or dark spots and even out skin tone naturally.
The only drawback? Sun protection is not high. SPF 15.

One of the best BB creams I have ever encountered, both for the ingredient’s quality and for how well it works on the skin. Lightweight and long lasting, it includes 5 shades that fit any skin color perfectly.
The coverage is excellent for a BB cream (of course it is NOT a foundation!) and manages to even out the skin very well and dramatically reduce the visibility of wrinkles. It’s not greasy and has a matte finish (great for oily skins).
Moreover, some ingredients are truly capable of nourishing the skin, giving an effective anti-aging contribution. A BB cream with a good INCI, that covers well and looks natural. Too bad it is not yet available in Europe!
