Scar removal cream (Europe best)
15. Dermatix – Silicone Gel
Dermatix is the scar removal cream of the Meda group, a pharmaceutical company of Swedish origin. Marketed all over the world, this cream is known for its excellent quality – efficacy/price ratio.
Talking about the ingredients is almost paradoxical: it is made up of only siloxane (Polysiloxane), known also as “medical silicone”.
In general, silicones are polymers made up of repeating units of siloxane, a chain of alternating silicon atoms and oxygen atoms which are often combined with carbon and / or hydrogen. Silicones are also called polysiloxanes.
When the silicone gel is applied on a scar, it spreads like an ultra-thin sheet and dries in 4-5 minutes thanks to its self-drying technology. Pure medical silicone can be applied to uneven skin or scar surfaces, face, moving parts (joints and pushups) and any scar size. It is suitable for sensitive, allergic and even children’s skin.
The silicone gel heals scars by increasing the hydration of the stratum corneum (the top layer of the skin). This facilitates the regulation of fibroblast production and also reduces collagen production. Basically, this allows the skin to “breathe”, resulting in a softer, flatter scar.
Silicone gel heals scars by balancing the expression of growth factors. Some growth factors stimulate fibroblasts to synthesize more collagen and other growth factors increase the level of collagenase which breaks down excess collagen. Silicone gel regulates these growth factors to normalize collagen synthesis.
Finally, the silicone gel heals scars by protecting scar tissue from bacterial invasion. This is important because bacteria have the ability to induce excessive collagen production in scar tissue.
INGREDIENTS
Polysiloxane, Silicon Dioxide
Conclusions
Saying “pure” medical silicone seems easy, but in reality, it requires a considerable dose of accuracy and quality control in the pharmacological field. Dermatix in this is a worldwide known name, appreciated in many countries.
The results are good on both atrophic and keloid scars. However, it is a cream that takes a long time to show appreciable results. We will see improvements from the second and third months of applications.
Mederma scar cream
14. Mederma PM – Overnight Scar Cream
Mederma scar cream is a Merz group product, a German pharmaceutical giant.
It is a cream that uses many natural extraction principles. Aloe barbadensis extract, and allantoin as moisturizers, while Allium cepa bulb extracts as a bleach for the scar.
The use of onion extract (or derivatives) for the treatment of scars is widely supported by clinical studies in the USA and European bibliography. And Mederma takes advantage of this principle. Its main use is for traumatic scars, but it is also suitable for acne scars due to the delicate formula on the skin and for use on the face.
Excellent the presence of copper tripeptide-1. Copper peptides have been shown to remove damaged collagen and elastin from the skin and scar tissue
Mederma scar removal cream results in a good product to remove scars, which however will require prolonged applications (at least 2/3 months to see the first results). Excellent use of onion extracts (Allium cepae) which is a natural whitener on skin redness as well as copper tripeptide-1.
Note on the price. Combined with satisfactory results, it is possible to take home at a lower price than most creams in the same category.
Note that Mederma scar cream is known internationally, particularly appreciated in Europe (where it was born and produced), but also widely marketed in the USA and Canada.

Conclusions
Mederma scar cream is a complete cream. We find emollients, moisturizers and whiteners. Good results also as acne scar cream. You will not see changes immediately but over time (about 2 months). A product that has become a skincare routine for thousands of people all over the world.
Depigmentation scar cream
13. Xscar – HQ Scar Cream
X-Scar is a trademark of AMG Naturally, a Florida cosmetic company.
It is a good level scar cream, able to combine good efficacy at a reasonable price even on the most annoying scars. It is a specific cream to limit scar pigmentation, in order to avoid changes in skin color.
It is characterized by some ingredients that have caught my attention and that I recognize to be truly effective in the treatment of scars.
Arbutin is used as an ingredient in cosmetic preparations for its depigmenting properties and because it is better tolerated than hydroquinone.
Arbutin acts by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase (an enzyme responsible for transforming tyrosine into melanin), competing with tyrosine for the same receptors.
Another interesting ingredient of this scar removal cream is Kojic acid. Kojic’s acid primary use is to lighten visible sun damage, age spots, or scars. In addition to skin-lightening effects, kojic acid also contains some antimicrobial properties.
Note also the presence of Niacinamide in good concentration. This is vitamin B3, famous for the fact that it increases the production of ceramides, essential components of the epidermal structure. The real bricks of the skin.
We also find several plant extracts, all with antioxidant properties. (Green Tea, Chamomilla extract, Apple extract). As anti scar cream, the main goal of antioxidants is to protect skin cells and structures from structural and functional changes induced by free radicals.
INGREDIENTS
Water, Sunflower Oil, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Kojic Acid, Stearic Acid, Steareth 20, Arbutin, Dimethicone, Squalane, Magnesium Ascorbyl, Phosphate, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita, Flower Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin
Conclusions
A product for scars almost entirely characterized by ingredients of vegetable origin. X-Scar is an AMG Naturally brand, and not surprisingly so focused on natural ingredients.
For efficacy and ingredients, it is a perfect cream for darker pigmented scars. You have to be consistent or else you will not see results. I don’t find it particularly suitable for smoothing cheloid scars.
Scar lightening treatment
12. St. Mege – Medical-Grade Scar Sheets
Let’s move on to Silicone scar sheets. An economic but effective product.
St. Mege Medical is a small cosmetic company in the United States.
The great advantage of the scar sheets is that they can be used for hours under clothes without the active ingredients being absorbed by the clothes themselves. Anti-scar sheets are a truly valid alternative to cream, often recommended by healthcare institutions.
There are numerous studies demonstrating the fact that the daily application of silicone could be really helpful in a scar healing treatment.
Medical silicone sheets were designed by a group of American Stanford University scholars to decrease and reduce the size of scars, avoiding excessive collagen production during healing. For this reason, silicone sheets perform a great effect on fresh wounds, but are less effective on mature wounds (over 6 months old).
One of the great advantages is that the silicone sheet remains in contact with the skin for many hours throughout the day. We can begin wearing the sheets for 5-6 hours a day for 2-3 days. Then the times are extended, going first to 8 hours and then possibly passing up to 24 hours a day.
These are sheets designed both for the maturation of newly formed scars and for keloid or atrophic scars that have also matured for several months (not years).
The sheet can be left on the skin all day, except when showering. In my opinion, a sheet after 1 week loses a large part of its emollient capacity, so I would use 1 per week making the box (containing 4 sheets) last 1 month.
INGREDIENTS
Medical-Grade Silicone
Conclusions
A silicone sheet is a good alternative to a scar removal cream. It combines the effectiveness of medical silicones with the ability to stay in contact with the skin for many hours, ensuring a unique skin softening. You can use the sheets underclothes and leave on the skin for up to 24 hours.
I just remember that these silicon sheets are designed to act on newly formed scars. On already mature and cheloids scars the effect is limited.
Scar healing treatment
11. Puriderma – Medical Silicone Scar Removal Sheets
Another product made in the USA. Puriderma sheets have become particularly popular online for their excellent value for money.
They are another effective alternative to scar creams, especially on wounds in the healing phase.
Firstly because they exert mechanical pressure, avoiding the accumulation of epidermis beyond the edges of the scar. Secondly, because are designed to slow down the activity of fibroplasts, which are primarily responsible for hypertrophic and keloid scars.
Remember that Medical-Grade Silicone sheets work the best on new scars, while are less effective on already formed scars.
Puriderma ones are particularly delicate silicone sheets and can be worn even for many hours.
It is Medical Silicone Scar Removal Sheets breathable, semi-permeable, comfortable and above all capable of Blocks UV rays (a very important thing).
They are also easy to cut and Reusable. We can wash with warm water and dry with a hairdryer. It can be used for approximately two weeks. (Not more than that).
INGREDIENTS
Medical-Grade Silicone
Conclusions
Puriderma medical silicone sheets are among the best known online, and we will find countless reviews. In our experience, they are actually excellent. They combine a function linked to the duration of application to a medical-mechanical one (action on fibroblasts + pressure on the scar). Remember that the sheets are studied and designed for younger scars.
Best price scar removal cream
8. Lanbena – TCM Removal Cream
Lanbena is a Chinese company, which guarantees distribution worldwide thanks to dealers present in the US.
TCB means traditional chinese medicine. In this case, it uses mostly vegetable ingredients for the treatment of scars, just as in Asian tradition.
I know some of us to I know some of us don’t like Chinese products, but this is a scar removal cream with ISO Certificate and registered in the U.S FDA product.
But let’s take a look at the ingredients.
We find Trehalose, a natural moisturizer. This sugar creates a very thin film capable of preserving the molecules, coating them and protecting them from external agents. in this way all the functional characteristics of the molecules remain unchanged. It creates a film on the skin that acts as a protection against free radicals and counteracts cellular degenerative processes, slowing down the aging processes and keeping hydration high.
There is also allantoin, one of the emollient active ingredients that made snail slime famous for cosmetic use!
We then find a large concentration of nicotinamide. This vitamin (Vitmain B3) determines an improvement in the barrier effect of the epidermis and an enhancement of skin resistance to external agents. Another function for which it is used in topical treatments is the ability to reduce skin hyperpigmentation, since it inhibits the transfer of melanosomes (of melanin-containing vesicles), from melanocytes to keratinocytes. So it is perfect for promoting the depigmentation of scars.
Portulaca oleracea, on the other hand, is a typical oriental herb. It has the characteristic of being rich in mucilage (about 40% on the dry weight), which is considered a natural emollient. For this reason, Portulaca oleracea is used in the East to treat acne and eczema, red skin and soothe wounds and scars.
INGREDIENTS
Water, glycerol, butylene glycol, trehalose, nicotinamide, portulaca oleracea, fucose, sodium hyaluronate, allantoin, carbomer, arbutin, phenoxyeth-anol, triethanolamine
Conclusions
As we have seen, this is a scar cream based on plant and natural active ingredients.
The effect in reducing scars from my point of view is good on younger ones, and able to promote proper healing even with its natural active ingredients.
Honestly, I did not find ingredients powerful enough to make the already matured and healed keloid and hypertrophic scars smoother.
Best natural scar removal cream
7. Pureautynaturals – Scar Reduction Gel
Made in the US, Pureauty Naturals is a natural scar removal cream that aims to completely avoid the use of silicones.
The active ingredients on which it is based are all natural and free of silicones.
In this scar lightening cream, the solvent used is Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice. This means that Aloe is used instead of water! This makes it a deeply emollient cream and suitable to soothe any type of wound.
Chamomile is also an excellent emollient that can treat irritated skin.
Same with Symphytum officinale, used on the skin for the relief of swelling (inflammatory disorders such as bruises, sprains, pulled muscles or injuries). Excellent therefore in the case of fresh scars.
The ingredients useful to soothe the scar formation, however, are Allantoin and Alliun Cepa.
Onion extract has been shown to significantly decrease the incidence of hypertrophic scars.
Allantoin, as we have seen, is an antioxidant and healing substance that contributes to epidermal repair processes. Both in natural and synthetic form, it has long been used as a remedy against cuts, grazes, wounds.
The bactericidal, hypoglycemic, hypocholesterolemic Alliun Cepa is one of the major sources of flavonoids and polyphenols. It counteracts the formation of hypertrophic scars, or even keloid scar. In 2007 a Turkish research had evaluated positively the application of onion extract gel on hypertrophic or keloids scars treatments.
INGREDIENTS
Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Alliun Cepa (onion) Bulb Extract, Polysorbate 20 Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Allantoin, (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Symphytum officinale (Comfrey) Rhizome/root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol” Ethythexylglycerin.
Conclusions
Among many scar removal creams with natural ingredients, this is my favorite. The use of Alliun Cepa to remove hypertrophic scars is supported by several scientific studies, and the rest of the formula is very rich in nutrients and above all moisturizers.
Without a doubt, it is a scar lightening cream that will give its best on “young” scars, but it is one of the few natural ones that can give good results even on mature scars.
Best scar cream for face
6. Rejuvaskin – Scar Esthetique
Rejuvaskin is a company based in Tampa, Florida, with a story started about 30 years ago in scar management.
Today Rejuvaskin is a company that exports scar care products to over 60 countries worldwide, as an international player.
Scar Esthetique is a scar removal cream that has convinced us also because of the numerous clinical studies related to the effectiveness of the cream for the treatment of scars. It is a perfect cream for sensitive skins and one of the best scar cream for face.
The first effective ingredient is a silicone, Dimethicone. Dimethicone helps form a semi-occlusive barrier to support the body’s scar healing process.
The “natural” ingredients that we find in the formula are also interesting.
We find first of all extract of allium cepae. As we have already seen, the onion extract (extract of allium cepae) is recognized in the scientific field for its anti-inflammatory, bactericidal properties and for its ability to prevent the formation of excessive scar tissue.
We also find Shea Butter, which softens the structure of the tissue, has anti-inflammatory and anti-swelling properties, supports the regeneration of cells and tissues and is able to bind water to the scar tissue.
Finally, Chamomile and Calendula are known for their emollient effect and relieve the itching often associated with the formation of scars. The presence of allantoin is also good, useful for promoting tissue regeneration.
The high concentration of peptides (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) is also interesting. Early studies suggest that these peptides may work to stimulate collagen production and help skin cells remain more stable.
INGREDIENTS
Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Saccharomyces Lysate , Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Allium Cepa (Onion) Bulb Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Ceteareth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Squalene, Retinyl Palmitate, Pinus Pinaster Bark Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Beta-Carotene, Ubiquinone , Copper Gluconate, Glucosamine, Algae Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Allantoin, Laminaria Japonica Extract (Seaweed), Bisabolol, Chitosan, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phospholipids, Methylparaben, Steareth-2, Phytosphingosine
Conclusions
A scar removal cream well known all over the world, with tens of years of history behind it that have created an international brand. Rejuvaskin is a gel that exploits the potential of plant extracts, and silicones (dimethicone), managing to treat both the early stages and the more mature scars.
In the latter case, treatment times even reach 6 months, so it is essential to arm yourself with patience. But I consider it an excellent scar cream for face
Best scar cream for kids
5. XScar Kids – Silicone Scar Children
I think that when you formulate a scar cream for kids you have to be very careful. And that’s why I inserted just XScar as scar cream for children.
XScar is a brand of the scarless MD brand, specialized in anti-aging treatments and entirely made in the USA.
This scar product is an excellent ally for both newly formed and more mature scars.
First of all, it is rich in emollients and moisturizers. We find Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea), Chamomilla Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple), Sodium Hyaluronate. All excellent ingredients as moisturizers and soothing, able to give a feeling of relief even on fresh wounds.
I really appreciate the high concentration of Argan Kernel Oil in this scar cream.
Argan oil is rich in vitamin E, vitamin A and essential fatty acids, including phytosterols, squalene, polyphenols and omega-6. In the laboratory it would be impossible to create a cream or a compound with such a rich and complete formula. Argan oil is anti-wrinkle, emollient, and has a natural cell renewal power.
Argan oil is also recommended for combating stretch marks during pregnancy in association with sweet almond oil, or as a natural soothing for skin irritations after epilation or inflammation.
Also in this cream we find Dimethicone. It is not a vegetable product, but it guarantees hydrophobic and film-forming characteristics, suitable for creating a moisturizing barrier on scars. It’s clinically proven to increase hydration of the stratum corneum and facilitates regulation of fibroblast production and reduction in collagen production, resulting in a minimized, less visible, scar.
Finally we find two fundamental ingredients. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7.
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 is believed to stimulate the regeneration of collagen fibers in the dermis by acting as sort of cellular messenger. It’s also thought to increase the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin, which can help tighten skin by attracting moisture to the epidermis.
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 is likewise referred to as a signal peptide. It is able to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycans, necessary to give firmness to the skin.
INGREDIENTS
Water, Butylene Glycol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Myristate, Glycerin, Ceteareth-20,Carbomer, Magnesium Ascorbyt Phosphate (vitamin C), Disodium EDTA, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, PEG-100 Stearate, Sodium Hyaluronate,Tocopherol (vitamin E), ‘Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Triethanolamine, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol
Conclusions
The best cream for kids from my point of view. It combines numerous emollients (vegetable and synthetic) with deep moisturizers. In addition, there are active ingredients capable of regulating collagen production. There are also ingredients to soothe inflammation, therefore it is suitable for both fresh and more mature (keloid) scars. In our experience, the scar is lighter and flattened out very well.
Best scar treatment (sheets)
4. Aroamas – Professional Silicone Scar Sheets
Aroamas are probably the best silicone scar sheets currently on the market.
The silicone scar removal sheets consist of a polyurethane adhesive membrane and are indicated for the treatment of both normal and hypertrophic scars, both recent and long-standing (even if on recent scars they seem to work well).
It can also be used for preventive purposes, on closed wounds to prevent flashy and / or hypertrophic scars. This type of sheets acts through an occlusive action that avoids the loss of water, rehydrates the wound environment, keeps the temperature constant and regulates the activity of fibroblasts, the cells responsible for tissue reconstruction.
Particularly effective for reducing the size of scars due to surgery, silicone sheets are often applied to the wound after removing the stitches. Furthermore, their functionality is linked to the ability to maintain the tension between the edges of the wound, which, in this way, does not cause relaxation of the skin (and consequently the scar tissue is greatly reduced).
This type of product for scar offers a reliable but at the same time flexible fixing and is easily applied without damaging the skin.
This silicone sheet is able to reduce the formation of exuberant scar tissue by six times. This applies to fresh scars, while it has no foundation in already formed mature and keloid scars.
INGREDIENTS
Medical-Grade Silicone
Conclusions
Aroamas medical silicone sheets are among the most famous in the world.
This type of scar treatment is recommended to treat postoperative scars resulting from surgery. These special silicone sheets offer the skin to breathe by not suffocating the wound and controlling the growth of collagen so as not to compare hypertrophic scars.
They are ideal on fresh scars, but as they are designed they will struggle to act on already mature and healed scars.
Best scar removal cream (value for money)
3. Aroamas – Advanced Scar Gel for face
Aroamas Advanced Scar Gel is a silicone scar product designed to act on young and fresh scars. However, it can also be used effectively on mature and keloid scars.
This cream is one of the best known scar treatment products available online. It’s one of the most recommended to anyone trying to reduce the appearance of any type of scar. Good also as keloid scar cream.
But does this popular cream really work? And how?
The formulation consists of Medical grade Silicone, which can be absorbed very well on the skin. As we’ve seen before, just this is a very useful ingredient in the treatment of any type of scar.
The overall absorption of the cream on the skin is so good that it is even possible to apply a light layer of make-up.
In addition, I tested myself that it is not greasy and does not stick to clothes, which I consider essential in the case of post-caesarean section use.
The cream exploits silicone technology to reduce the appearance of scars, in particular for hypertrophic and keloid scars. It is also recommended for the treatment of scars resulting from trauma, burns and general surgical procedures.
The formula contain Laurocapram, that is used as skin humectant and skin penetration enhancer.
Among the many scar creams on the market, this is one of the “simplest”, but at the same time one of the most appreciated scars cream worldwide, probably also due to the excellent value for money.
After about a month of application, the scars tend to diminish, with a progressive discoloration of the pigmentation. In my experience, the cream will soften the texture and reduced the size of the scar.
INGREDIENTS
Medical grade Silicone oil, Carbomer, Water soluble Laurocapram, and Pure Water.
Conclusions
A worldwide success due to the excellent value for money of the scar cream. 30 gr for this scar removal cream may seem little but are enough to complete a treatment of almost 2 months. Excellent results combined with a modern and effective formula, make it undoubtedly one of the most interesting scar products on the market today.
Best scar treatment after surgery
2. XScar – Silicone Scar Treatment
As we have seen previously, XScar is a brand of the scarless MD brand, specialized in anti-aging treatments and entirely made in the USA.
XScar Silicone is a very famous surgical medical device, proposed as a scar cream in post-operative treatments by many professionals.
This scar cream is 100% based on the action of silicones, in fact, the INCI is mainly composed of silicone gels (Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane)
It’s a scar removal cream indicated for the treatment and prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scars caused by burns, surgery or trauma after the wound has completely healed and in the presence of an irregular skin surface.
As we’ve seen before, the use at very high concentrations of medical silicone treatment on keloid scars is supported by several clinical studies. The use of medical silicone, in fact, flattens, softens and smoothes the scars, relieves the pain, itching, and discomfort associated with them, as well as making the pigmentation of the scar tissue less pronounced.
We also find Palmitoyl Tripeptide: a tripeptide consisting of amino acids such as Arginine, Phenylalanine and Lysine. It is one of the peptides capable of activating fibroplasts by sending them the message of producing greater quantities of collagen.
Let’s cut to the chase. XScar Silicone is one of the scar removal creams for scars we don’t manage to remove with other products. The very high concentration of Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane and dimethicone make this cream also the quintessential silicone treatment and maybe the best scar cream after surgery.
Note also the presence of emollients and moisturizers, such as Argania Spinosa, and Sodium Hyaluronate whose benefits we have seen in detail previously.
The cons? Unfortunately, this scar cream is a really expensive medical product.
INGREDIENTS
Water, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Myristate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Glycerin, Ceteareth 20, Cyclohexasiloxane, Argania Spinosa (argan) Kernel Oil, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, glycation, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobu-tene, Polysorbate 20, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, DMDM Hydantoin
Conclusions
We are talking about a scar removal cream formulated to act on any type of scar: mature, keloid or hypertrophic. A medical device designed essentially with the best medical silicons on the market. Reduce the keloid tissue, softens the skin and flattens old scars. In my opinion, one of the best scar removal cream for face, body or as scar cream after surgery.
Best scar removal cream
1. SkinMedica – Scar Recovery Gel
Produced and distributed in the US, SkinMedica Scar Recovery is undoubtedly one of the best scar removal products on the market today.
It is a scar removal cream suitable for any type of scar, which uses 3 main ingredients.
The first is an extract from the plant Bulbine frutescens. This ingredient increases hydration leaving a layer of fatty vesicles of glycoprotein on the skin surface. It also has antibacterial properties.
The second component is Oleuropein. Oleuropein and its metabolite, hydroxytyrosol, have powerful antioxidant activity, which might be responsible for some of olive oil’s antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and disease-fighting activities. Oleuropein is best known for its blood pressure-lowering effect
The third component is the principal terpenoids extracted from the Centella asiatica plant.
Centella asiatica has been documented to aid wound healing in a large number of scientific reports. The most beneficial effect appears to be the stimulation of maturation of the scar by the production of type I collagen and the resulting decrease in the inflammatory reaction and myofibroblast production.
Finally note the presence of lactic acid, used by this cream to help exfoliate the skin, in a gentle way.
Lactic acid is used as a regulator of the hydrolipidic balance of the skin. It has an exfoliating, disinfectant and renewing action, which is why it is perfect for acne-prone skin. Due to its exfoliating power, it is considered an excellent active ingredient in making scars, dark spots and wrinkles less visible as it acts by stimulating aged and damaged skin to regenerate itself by promoting normal cell turnover.
Overall it is probably the best scar removal cream for sensitive skin, but capable of reducing even the most evident scars. Gentle on the skin, it is also suitable as scar cream for face.
INGREDIENTS
Water/Aqua/Eau, Poloxamer 407, Bulbine Frutescens Gel, PEG-40, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Olea Europaea Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol.
Conclusions
The best scar treatment for sensitive skin, while ensuring excellent results. It combines medical grade silicones with plant extracts (used as emollients and moisturizers). Because of this, a complete scar treatment will have to last at least 4-6 weeks. But in the end, it remains by far one of the best scar products, able to smooth and minimize the appearance of any scar type. It is also probably one of, if note the best scar removal cream after surgery.
Scar removal cream: how to choose
It is important to know all the types of existing scars, because we are there to understand which treatment is the most suitable in our specific case.
Hypertrophic scars – These scars are generally quite red in addition to being raised, but never extend beyond the point of injury. In essence, the word “hypertrophic” means “enlarged”, but does not necessarily include bending or unevenness of the surface of the skin.
Keloid scars – Keloids are cicatricial lesions that grow beyond the boundary of a skin lesion: therefore, starting from an abrasion or a wound, keloids develop a scar much more detailed and related to the damage of origin. These cicatricial lesions are mainly due to an excessive and disordered proliferation of fibroblasts in the deep dermis, in which particular anomalies quantity of collagen: the overproduction of collagen, in turn, gives a solid consistency to the scar.
Atrophic scars – Perhaps the most common type of scar, used as a blemish on the skin. When losing fat, muscle tissue and other supporting structures, a slightly sunken area can be used. Common causes of these atrophic scars are acne, surgery, accidents.
Scar removal cream: is it really effective?
The scars can take up to two years to develop and mature, so with that in mind, we won’t find a simple solution that will solve the problem in a few days. The creams that promise results in a few days, lie.
Unfortunately, not all scars will benefit from a dermatological product: for example, atrophic scars require dermatological interventions and topical treatments cannot “sink” the sunken area. Typically, a professional can suggest laser treatment, chemical peeling, dermabrasion, punching excretions or radio frequency.
On the other hand, scar removal creams and ointments for scars can be used with excellent results for:
- hypertrophic scars
- keloid scars
- Atrophic scars (prevention)
Scar products: the best ingredients
The ingredients used in scar creams are always evolving because scientific research never stops. However, we can identify some historically considered among the most used and appreciated. Let’s see.
– Medical-Grade Silicone
When it comes to “treating” a scar, what matters the most is creating a closed environment so that the skin can retain moisture, maintaining proper cellular respiration. That’s why the best scar treatment uses medical grade silicone.
It has been studied how self-drying silicone gels are actually able to reduce the appearance of hypertrophic and keloid scars, with many scars that are assessed as normal or slightly hypertrophic after treatment.
(Puri N, Talwar A. The efficacy of silicone gel for the treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids. J Cutan Aesthet Surg. 2009;2(2):104–106. doi:10.4103/0974-2077.58527).
In a study of postoperative wounds and scar cream after surgery, a silicone gel treatment inhibited the formation of hypertrophic and keloid scars and also improved scar symptoms in the participants. Although researchers are unsure of how exactly silicone gel affects scar healing, it is speculated that it is linked to an increase in skin surface temperature, increased hydration of the stratum corneum and the development of a static electric field may affect effectiveness of silicone.
(Talwar A. The efficacy of silicone gel for the treatment of hypertrophic scars and keloids. J Cutan Aesthet Surg. 2009 Jul;2(2):104-6. doi: 10.4103/0974-2077.58527. PMID: 20808600; PMCID: PMC2918339).
When it comes to treating scars, silicone is one of the best ingredients on the market. Silicone scar treatment can take several forms, with the most common including silicone sheets and self-drying silicone gel.
So when we check the ingredients, we make sure that silicone is among the top positions in the list of ingredients.
The usual terms you will find for medical grade silicone are:
• Dimethicone
• Ciclopentasilossano
• Sitoxanes polymerized,
• Dimethicone / Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer
The silicone gels recommended for scar treatment are 100% pure medical silicone.
However, some laboratories add one or two other ingredients in very small quantities (usually about 1%) to increase the effectiveness of the gel or guarantee antioxidant or moisturizing properties.
– Vitamin E (tocopherol)
It is an interesting ingredient because it has a powerful antioxidant activity. Known for its neutralizing power against free radicals generated by pollution, smoke etc. We find it in the INCI as Tocopherol. It is often used in scar lightening creams.

– Allantoin
It is a non-irritating active that can soothe the skin. It is used in most of the best scar removal treatments. Allantoin helps to heal wounds, skin lesions and scars more quickly. It stimulates fibroblasts (cells responsible for collagen production) and increases the synthesis of the extracellular matrix. This helps to restore normal skin to the wound site, making it less visible than the unhealed contour.

– Onion extract (allium cepa)
Of course, applying onion extract on the skin does not seem too glamorous or effective, but this plant extract is a staple in most treatments for scars.
(Draelos ZD, Baumann L, Fleischer AB Jr, Plaum S, Avakian EV, Hardas B. A new proprietary onion extract gel improves the appearance of new scars: a randomized, controlled, blinded-investigator study. J Clin Aesthet Dermatol. 2012;5(6):18–24.).
In a research published in Dermatology Research and Practice, 16 women with cesarean section scars applied a 12% onion extract gel on their scars three times a day for 12 weeks. After the trial period, many women saw improvements in scar height.
When 42 experimental participants applied onion gel treatment to the scars once a day for eight weeks, the treatment led to significant improvements in scar structure, softness, redness and general appearance within the first four weeks of application.
Undoubtedly a highly valuable ingredient, supported by numerous scientific tests. An active ingredient suitable for the best scar treatments.
Here is the updated ranking on the best scar removal creams currently on the market.
